Womenswear Head Designer

ABOUT ME

For nearly two decades I have enjoyed working as a Women's Apparel Designer in New York.  I have  experience working for bridge, private label and mass market companies specializing in all casual sportswear categories including tailored suiting, sweaters, outerwear and denim.  I find immense fulfillment in my career and my excitement for each coming season never wanes.  The balance of being creative, collaborative, problem solving and leading is very fulfilling for me.  I have a particular interest in creating strong brand identities through research, design and merchandising.  Leading and developing talent by fostering creativity and self ownership is another interest of mine.
Prior to my experience in the industry I earned a BFA in Fashion Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design otherwise known as SCAD.  As a very young child growing up in New England, my grandmother taught me how to knit, sew and make patterns.  She was a custom clothing maker from the 1940's to the 1960's creating evening gowns and casual sportswear wardrobes for her local clients.  She delighted in my interest and talent and spent time over the years teaching me her craft in my free time after school.  At the time in my Blue Ribbon Elementary School there was a large emphasis on the arts in which I very much enjoyed and excelled in.  It was a natural decision early on for me to decide on my career path in Fashion Design which I am incredibly fortunate to enjoy.
